Install the extension

The Chrome extension adds page pins, classic capture, and in-page walkthrough recording. You can also collect reports through the website widget or record in the web app.

Install from the Chrome Web Store

  1. Open the Toado extension on the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click Add to Chrome, then Add extension in the confirmation prompt.
  3. The Toado icon appears in your toolbar.

Install the 0.2.0 preview when offered

The Chrome Web Store can still serve an earlier version while a release is under review. To use the pins and walkthrough features in these guides, open User settings > Extension in Toado and look for Try version 0.2.0 before the Chrome Web Store has it. Use the preview offered by your app rather than an old download link.

  1. Choose Download 0.2.0 (.zip) and unzip it into a folder you will keep. Chrome runs the unpacked extension from that folder.
  2. Finish submitting pending local work, then open chrome://extensions and remove the existing Toado installation. The preview and store version share an ID, so only one can be installed.
  3. Enable Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the extracted folder.
  4. Pin Toado to the toolbar and choose Connect to Toado again. Replacing the installation signs the extension out.

An unpacked installation does not update automatically. When the desired version is available in the Store, remove the unpacked copy and install the Store version again. If the app no longer offers a preview, follow its current extension installation instructions.

Pin it to your toolbar

Chrome hides new extensions behind a puzzle-piece icon by default. Pin Toado to your toolbar so the capture button is always one click away.

  1. Click the puzzle-piece icon to the right of the Chrome address bar.
  2. Find Toado in the list.
  3. Click the pin icon next to it.

The Toado icon now sits in your toolbar.

Connect to your account

  1. Open Toado’s extension Options, or follow the connection prompt from the toolbar action.
  2. Click Connect to Toado. A Chrome auth window opens to app.toado.dev, asks you to approve the connection, and hands the extension a token. No copy-paste required.
  3. Confirm the extension shows your connected account.

Uses OAuth + PKCE under the hood. The extension never sees your password, and revoking access from your Sessions page in app settings cuts it off instantly.

Test it

Navigate to a supported website. With In-page logging enabled, press Alt + C and click an element to place a pin. Save the description in the composer. If the setting is off, the same shortcut uses classic capture. See Page pins.
